I'm not a big drinker; I'll have a few ciders at bar trivia maybe thrice a month. In fact, I think I've had a hangover only once or twice in my life. So, you may be thinking, who am I to give advice on improving what excessive drinking does to your face the next day?
Well, I went to FSU, and I have eyes.
Hangover face looks like the most unfortunate combination of anemia, fast-food bloat and the flu, and it feels even worse. And while these two masks won't fix a headache or nausea or any of those other delightful feelings, they will erase the evidence in your skin. (And hey, that could make you feel a little better psychosomatically, right?)
First is Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Wrap.
This mask has a cream-mousse texture that immediately soothes cranky-pants skin. Its star ingredient is Chinese barley, which helps eliminate puffiness; and ginkgo biloba prevents it from coming back.
You know how skin is somehow both dehydrated and greasy when you're hungover? This has that covered, too. White clay absorbs excess oil, but your skin is also moisturized by chayote, which is a hybrid of peyote and coyote. Just kidding--it's a tropical fruit.
I hadn't been drinking, but I thought you might like to see what my skin looked like right after my 10-minute stint wearing it.
I'm proposing this second mask not as an alternative to the Clarins mask, but as a partner. A few minutes after rinsing the Shaping Facial Lift Wrap off, go ahead and apply Orlane Absolute Skin Recovery Masque.
It's a gooey, shiny formula, and you can definitely feel it doing something at first.
Orlane touts it as an anti-fatigue mask, and it definitely wakes you up, somewhat rudely. But once the tingling passes, it's easy to finish out the 10 minutes it takes for it to boost radiance and improve tone. It has, ginkgo, too, which is supported by ginseng and hyaluronic acid to get skin looking as un-zombie-ish as possible.
Another reason to spend a buttload on this mask: you can also use a thin layer of it under your makeup for a daily skin boost.
Here's what I looked like after both masks.
I'm smiling because I actually saw improvement in my overall complexion, and I hadn't been anywhere near hungover when I started. My skin looked glowy but matte, and even a little rosy.
I am totally going to start getting hungover all the time so I can get even more out of these.
What do you typically do to aesthetically recover from a hangover?
