The other day my fiance commented on my hair as it was drying. (This is just asking for problems, by the way.)
"Your hair is frizzy!" he said.
I think anyone with a frizz/damage problem, or in my case, a total complex over my hair, knows when they have frizz. Especially when air-drying the most damaged hair in the world in 80% humidity. I have breakage all the way up to my eyes! I'm missing my old healthy brown hair hardcore these days, so I'm in the process of growing out my hair to get back to my natural color.
Let's go back to the scene where my loving fiance blurted out that my hair was frizzy, and indeed it was. He suggested I take some of his aftershave balm and rub it on my ends. He uses Ermenegildo Zegna Z Aftershave balm.
I didn't try this immediately. I proceeded to have a little hissy fit with myself in the bathroom, watching my hair dry like someone who has too much time on their hands does.
Three days later, I ended up trying it. I was no longer angry about the mostly innocent observation that I have a frizz problem, and was able to approach the bottle of aftershave with a little more neutrality. I knew my frizz was out of control, so I decided to try rubbing it through my hair per Kyle's recommendation. I am a big fan of men's cologne and using stuff for men in general.
If I can tell you anything about this fragrance, it's really woodsy and clean, and expertly masks smoke odors and doesn't interfere with any other scents I have going, to my knowledge.
I squeezed... actually, kind of had to shake out a few drops into the palm of my hand and run it through the dried ends of my hair like with any other creamy hair product. I don't know why they don't put pumps on bottles of stuff like this. It's so weird. It's like a Heinz ketchup bottle of aftershave.
But once you do, it makes a great treatment for frizz and flyaways on dry hair!
After putting about a quarter-size dollop in my hand, I rubbed it through the lengths and concentrated on the ends of my hair, just like I would with any hair styling product. To my surprise, it actually absorbed instantly and didn't leave residue.
So I've been stealing drops of my fiance's aftershave. Of course, my hair is still damaged, but this definitely makes my hair look smoother and smell refreshed.
Of course after I tried it, my fiance told me he uses it in his hair, too. If any of you buy cologne sets for your significant others or if they receive a set as a gift, steal the aftershave. Get permission, actually, because stealing is wrong.
Here's a side by side photo of before the aftershave, and after the aftershave. Ignore my roots and horrible split ends and have pity on me. See the improvement!
I think I'll definitely continue to steal his aftershave once in awhile.
