I don't hate natural beauty products. As I've discussed before, I just hate when people think they're automatically better just because they're natural.
But it's Earth Day, so natural-product-glorifying is probably rampant on the internet today (I wouldn't know--I write everything on an antique typewriter and Annie puts it on the site for me), so talking about natural and organic stuff here on xoVain is INEVITABLE even though I'm the beauty director and have every right to not talk about it, but here I am talking about it, because I am in a constant state of internal conflict with myself.
Organic stuff is pretty darn earthy, right? Well, if you ask me (and even if you don't), I can think of nothing earthier than minerals. And you know what? MINERALS AREN'T ORGANIC. Or, like 99% of them, at least, because most don't contain carbon. DID I BLOW YOUR MIND'S BRAIN MINERALS?!
Anyway, I did a quick search in our beauty "closet" for something really earthy/mineral-y and found this:
That's Ahava Mineral Body Exfoliator, in one of our office trees, for extra Earth Day-ness. I don't think the tree is real, though, which is actually really Earth-friendly because we didn't cut one down for our petty office pleasure.
So, Ahava Mineral Body Exfoliator contains red seaweed granules, which have a high mineral concentration. It's also made with mineral-rich water from the Dead Sea, which is neither dead nor a sea. YOU HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH TODAY.
Other than that, this isn't a super-earthy formula, though I will say the Hebrew on the bottle makes me feel all at-one with my ancestors/Grandma Ethel (she taught me how to say "Go take a crap in the ocean" in Yiddish).
OK, so, that whole Quick Question thing: What's your favorite "earthy" beauty product? And what is your definition of "earthy"?
