I swallow. It’s not a ladylike thing to admit to the Internet, but there are no beauty secrets on this website.
I will swallow anything in the name of health and beauty. I can't wait to get knocked up and then encapsulate my placenta after I've had my babies pop out of me!
What I swallow, however, isn't what I very obviously insinuated. In fact, it smells and tastes even worse. And yet, I knock back a tablespoon of it religiously every morning.
I'm talking about apple cider vinegar.
As its name suggests, it’s a vinegar made of apples. There are already a ton of awesome healthy things in apples but when apples are fermented, nutrients and enzymes are produced in the process.
The $3 bottle you get from the supermarket (cheaper sometimes, too!) has so many super-chargers that it can help your skin and body in so many ways.
WHICH WAYS?
It has potassium, which prevents hair loss, brittle teeth and runny noses; calcium, which is good for strong bones and teeth; malic acid, which makes the vinegar antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal; pectin, which helps to regulate blood pressure and reduce bad cholesterol; and acetic acid, which slows the digestion of starch, that in turn lowers the rise of glucose after eating.
All the mumbo jumbo aside, it works. I knock back a tablespoon of the funky-tasting stuff every morning without fail. It’s not the easiest of liquids to swallow, so you can dilute it in a glass of water if you must.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
Have a blemish on your otherwise perfect complexion? Dip a Q-tip into it and dab it on the spot every few hours or so and watch the zit wither and disappear into oblivion.
Have a strange urge to pour it over your head? Do it! But maybe follow Ranu's rinse recipe instead of dousing yourself.
Like a lot of things in beauty or health, you’re not going to notice any changes if you do it for a few days. Buy a bottle, stick it next to your toothbrush if you have to so you’ll remember to take it.
Come back to me after a month and let me know if you see and feel a difference!
